Platelet Rich Plasma: A Promising Treatment
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a treatment that uses your own blood to promote healing and tissue regeneration.
How PRP Works
We draw a small blood sample and process it to separate the platelets from the rest of the blood cells. Those platelets are then re-suspended in your own plasma and injected back into the body — typically at the site of an injury, or wherever tissue regeneration is the goal, including hair restoration and facial rejuvenation.
What PRP Treats
PRP is used for a range of conditions: sports injuries to tendons, ligaments, and muscles; osteoarthritis, where it helps reduce pain and inflammation and supports cartilage repair; hair loss, where it stimulates growth and improves the thickness of existing hair; and facial rejuvenation, where it can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, plump the skin, and act as a natural “bio-filler.”
Why PRP Works Well
Because PRP uses your own blood, there's very little to no risk of an allergic reaction or rejection. And because the platelets are concentrated before they're re-injected, the treatment is more effective than simply injecting regular blood.
What to Know Before You Start
PRP is considered a safe and effective option for a lot of conditions, but it's not a cure-all, and it won't work for everyone. It's worth having realistic expectations and talking through the treatment with a qualified healthcare professional first. The FDA hasn't approved PRP for every condition it's used for, and in some cases the procedure is still considered experimental — so do your homework and have that conversation before deciding.
The Revivify Difference
Our team has done extensive and ongoing training in PRP and other regenerative therapies to bring you safe, effective treatment for a wide range of conditions. Our procedures are performed under ultrasound guidance when appropriate, and administered by our physician directly. Whenever you're considering a regenerative procedure, do your homework on the facility — make sure whoever is administering it is properly trained, properly qualified, and properly supervised, for the best results and the fewest complications.
